The Toronto Catholic District School Board (TCDSB) contracted Ritestart to perform renovations to create a space for Developmentally Delayed / Multiple Exceptionalities children.

Project scope included the renovation of two existing classrooms to service a barrier free washroom, calming room, full kitchen / life skills area, staff offices and two classrooms. The work comprised of demolition, new drywall partitions and ceilings, and millwork and associated installation. We performed installation of specialty rubber flooring and specialty wall padding in new calming room. We also installed new ceramic tile, new underground mechanical work, equipment, fixtures, as well as complete new electrical. We removed existing exterior windows, and enlarged openings in existing masonry envelope to install new windows complete with security film.

The project was completed in a fully occupied school, maintaining proper delineation of the work zone were of the utmost importance to ensure everyone’s health and safety. Staff and students were provided the opportunity to paint some temporary plywood coverings being used in public spaces, which provided a nice opportunity to interact with us, and was an enjoyable experience for all involved.
