The Table Rock Welcome Centre is considered the heart of Niagara Parks, where millions of visitors pass through each year. RITESTART had the opportunity to construct three new exterior canopies – robust structures capable of withstanding excessive wind, snow and ice loads. Canopies were constructed at the Grand Hall Entrance directly adjacent to the Falls, the Lower Restaurant Entrance, and at the north side of the Bridge of Flowers.
The construction of canopies required concrete foundations extending down to bedrock, complex structural steel designs, masonry works, copper cladding and roofing systems, snow melt systems with accompanying electrical work, and minor mechanical work. All canopies were tied back to the main structure, which added another level of complexity. Hoarding and engineered overhead protection were utilized to ensure public safety, and maintain access to and from the Welcome Centre. We maintained our incident-free status, and completed the project on schedule. Quartek Group Inc. acted as the consultant on this project, and provided the following reference:
“The firm is well organized, provides construction documentation in a timely manner, maintains communication throughout the course of construction, is knowledgeable in construction techniques…It is a pleasure working with Ritestart, and we look forward to working with them on future projects. Quartek has no hesitation in recommending their services for any proposed project of similar scale.” – Sam Persano, Architect Associate, Quartek Group Inc.
