We are thrilled to showcase our recent completion of the Jalynn Bennett Amphitheatre at Trent University’s Catharine Parr Traill College, a remarkable addition to downtown Peterborough that promises to be a vibrant hub for arts, culture, and history. Nestled in the heart of Traill College, between London and Dublin streets, this three-season amphitheatre has been meticulously designed to incorporate the timeless acoustics of ancient Greece. With tiered seating accommodating 80 to 100 people, professional lighting, and carefully directed sound, the amphitheatre sets the stage for unforgettable performances and events.
Our scope of work encompassed a comprehensive transformation of the site. The project involved the complete demolition and removal of existing green space, paving the way for new complex concrete designs. We constructed tiered concrete retaining wall seating adorned with artificial grasses, creating a visually appealing and comfortable environment. A stage, crafted to perfection, serves as the focal point of the amphitheatre. Additionally, a red western cedar fencing was meticulously designed to mirror the exterior finish of the adjacent buildings, adding a touch of elegance and cohesion to the space. Extensive landscape design was undertaken to ensure proper drainage and create a stunning outdoor ambiance. The use of artificial grass throughout the amphitheatre’s circular curved design adds a touch of greenery and softness to the concrete landscape. We selected high-grade fencing and decking materials to ensure durability and longevity, meeting the highest standards of quality.
The Jalynn Bennett Amphitheatre was made possible through the generous support of Jalynn Bennett herself. A prominent businesswoman in Canada and the Chair of the Trent University Board of Directors, she dedicated a significant portion of her Will towards the realization of this project. It stands as a testament to her enduring legacy and commitment to fostering the arts and cultural development within the community.
